Bio
I was lucky to grow up in a small community in Wisconsin that valued art education for its youth and as a child I developed a passion for creating. Not knowing any working artists, it did not occur to me that art could be a profession…..until I retired from the business world and took my first art class at 52. I devoted all my time to painting and studied with the best instructors I could find, first at the Art Students League of Denver and later at the Scottsdale Artists School in Phoenix. Oil quickly became my medium of choice for its versatility and vibrance, not to mention its flexibility. Usually my painting style is realism, but I also love to use a palette knife when the subject seems to require it. My husband Dave, who loves golf, and I split our year between Colorado and Arizona.

Deborah Minarik is an Arizona-based fine artist whose work reimagines the desert landscape in
vibrant, expressive color. Known for her luminous, spirit-led compositions, she paints primarily
in oil, using bold palettes and intuitive brushwork to capture the emotional essence of the
Southwest.
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture, a foundation that informs her keen
sense of design, balance, and spatial harmony. Her paintings are represented through the
Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery and licensed for fine art reproduction by a company in
Charleston, South Carolina. She is also an active member of the Sonoran Arts League, the
Scottsdale Artists League, and the Fountain Hills Artists’ Gallery, where she serves on the
